Left2Right "Vandalism"

Update: I've started left2rightcomments.blogspot.com, which I feel is more appropriately named. See you there.

Apparently, Left2Right had a problem with someone hacking the comments. David Velleman wrote:

This afternoon Left2Right was vandalized by an attacker whom we have previously tried but failed to ban from the site. Since I will not be available to scrub the grafitti off the walls, I have eliminated comments, at least for the rest of the summer.

Bummer!

However, I will make a comment thread available for every Left2Right post this summer, except for one week when I'm on vacation. I don't know if anyone will find the comment threads since there's no trackback available at Left2Right either, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

I'll create comment threads for the last few posts at Left2Right tomorrow.

I'm personally perplexed that David Velleman would endorse given contributions to such a group, even if this particular cause is arguably good.

Because I have published a paper titled "Against The Right To Die" and another paper (subscription required) arguing against physician assisted suicide; and because these papers are sometimes assigned in undergraduate courses; I worry that some former philosophy students may think that they remember having once read a justification for the way that Congress is currently interfering in the medical treatment of a patient in Florida. There is an extremely interesting document available here. It is the independent investigation of the CBS handling of four documents relating to President Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard. The report was commissioned by CBS and headed by Richard Thornburgh, former US Attorney General. It is 234 pages in length, so one is unlikely to read it in its entirety, but even spending half and hour skipping around in it is fascinating and rewarding. ...

Purpose

I enjoy the blog Left2Right, however, one of the bloggers, Gerald Dworkin, usually doesn't enable comments on his posts. Thus, I've created this blog whose only purpose is to provide a comment forum for each of his posts. Each of Dworkin's posts will have a link, and a few sentences, preceded by a header that's appropriate for a trackback entry.

By the way, I am not planning on moderating these comments except perhaps to delete particularly obscene ones or obvious spam.
